8th Grade Sign-up Deadline is
Friday March 3, 2017 at 10:00PM
No audition required for placement in the Concert Orchestra.
It is a great place to start your high school orchestra experience at Westwood HS.
Audition Materials
1.) Two Octave Major Scales in these keys: C, G, D, A, E, F, B Flat, E flat, and A flat. These scales can be found in “Essentials for Strings” by Gerald Anderson.
Tempo is Quarter note = 80 Play eighth notes, separate bows.
Do NOT slur. Do NOT play 3 or 4 octaves!
2.) A prepared solo of your choice. Students should prepare at least 2 minutes of a solo, but not more than 5 minutes. Please choose a piece that shows your technical ability. You may play part of a slow piece and part of a fast piece if you wish. Students auditioning for the Symphony, Philharmonic, and Concert Orchestra should choose a piece that demonstrates their skill in playing in 3rd position and above. (Please bring an extra copy of your prepared solo)
3.) Sightreading. You will be given a piece of music to sightread.

2 . Follow the instructions on the SignUp webpage for how to reserve a time. Please make sure that you double check to see if your time was saved. If it was not saved, someone else will take it! If you need to change your audition for any reason, please logon with your email and edit your slot.
Please note: There are 2 slots per half-hour. One student will play for Mrs. Williams and the other will play for Mr. Anderson.

All auditions are at Westwood HS in the Performing Arts Building.
