Our Orchestras
The Westwood Symphony Orchestra is the premier ensemble at Westwood High School, known for its tradition of excellence. The program has been named TMEA Honor Orchestra six times and has twice performed at the prestigious Midwest Clinic in Chicago. Most recently, the Symphony was named the 2026 TMEA Honor Full Orchestra and will perform at the TMEA Convention in February 2026.
The orchestra collaborates closely with the band program, fielding three full symphonies annually for UIL evaluations—each co-conducted by orchestra and band directors. With over 230 students across five performance-based ensembles and one beginning orchestra, all groups participate in UIL events, with the top three performing as both string and full orchestras.
Now in its 39th year, the program has had just three head directors, continuing a legacy of musical excellence. Westwood Orchestra consistently leads the region in student placements into All-Region and Texas All-State Orchestras.
Empowering students through inclusive music, meaningful connections, and opportunities for growth.
